the fink closed beta drops in exactly two weeks. we are moving incredibly fast, and here is exactly what’s landing:

fink.browser: we made sure it has every crucial thing you actually need right out of the gate. no waiting around. we’re going to keep pushing updates constantly, but day one is ready to rock with everything you need to browser the surface-web privately.

# Ghostery adblocker - running in the main process (same architecture as Brave) — 4 merged filter lists (Ghostery + AdGuard Base, Spyware, Annoyances, Mobile)

# 3 strictness tiers + per-site whitelist toggle + live block counter

# Fingerprint spoofing - Canvas, WebGL, AudioContext, Navigator, WebRTC all spoofed via CDP (runs before page JS, bypasses CSP)

# Tracking param stripping — UTM, fbclid, gclid, msclkid, etc. removed from every URL

# Force HTTPS + Ping blocking + DNT / GPC headers injected globally

# WebRTC IP leak protection at the session level

# Incognito mode - fully isolated session, zero persistence

# AES-GCM 256-bit encrypted history - PBKDF2 key derivation, key lives in memory only, cleared on close

* Vertical sidebar tabs and horizontal top tabs — toggle live, no restart

* Split view — two URLs side by side, each with its own nav bar

* Drag-to-reorder sidebar actions — hold-to-unlock with animated progress ring

* Tab context menu — pin, duplicate, mute, close others

* 5 tab styles — Classic, Pill, Underline, Glass, Cyberpunk

* Glance Mode — hold Alt to peek all tabs

+ Smart address bar with history-based autocomplete

+ 4 search engines — DuckDuckGo (default), Google, Bing, Yahoo

+ Full bookmark system — add/remove from navbar, sidebar panel, bookmarks bar

+ Browser history — up to 1,000 entries, browsable at fink://history, optional encryption

+ Zoom controls (in/out/reset), PiP support, download manager

/ Load unpacked Chrome extensions from any folder, toggle on/off

/ 15 settings categories — appearance, keybinds (fully remappable), privacy, adblocker, downloads, system perf stats, startup behavior, languages, and more

/ Hardware acceleration toggle, Fast Mode, live CPU/RAM monitor

+ way more :)

but moving on,

fink.notes: it’s your space, locked down tight, so you can dump your ideas without anyone else taking a peek and without worry. our notes app is built with extreme privacy in mind. it acts as a secure vault rather than just a simple notepad.

# Triple-Encrypted Security - The app layers AES-256 and ChaCha20 encryption, so your notes stay unreadable without your master password.

# Zero-Knowledge Master Password - Before accessing the app, you are required to set up and enter a Master Password.

# No Recovery Mechanism - A strict NRM that includes a warning during setup: "There is absolutely no recovery mechanism. If you lose your master password, your notes are lost forever." This ensures that no one (not even the system) can bypass your security.

many quality of life features that include (and are not limited to):

* Auto-Save - You don't have to worry about saving. The app uses a debounced auto-save (triggers 1 second after you stop typing) to ensure you never lose your progress.

* Rich Text Context Menu - Right-clicking inside the editor pops up a sleek, floating context menu to quickly apply Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strikethrough formatting.

* Bidirectional Linking Hint - The editor placeholder hints at using [[Link]] syntax, suggesting it's designed to handle markdown and wiki-style bidirectional links.

* Fluid UI & Micro-animations - Powered by framer-motion, the app feels alive. It features a custom "spring bounce" effect when you scroll too far to the top or bottom, and smooth transitions when opening, deleting, or renaming notes.

* Glassmorphic Theming - The app pulls from your global system theme, applying a translucent, blurred background (glassmorphism) that adapts to your wallpaper or custom colors.

* Smart Title Editing - When you change a note's title but try to leave without saving, it intercepts you with a smooth "Unsaved Title Changes" prompt so you don't lose your edits.

/ Advanced Voice Dictation - It features built-in, local voice-to-text dictation. It supports the vosk-browser model by default but also has integrations for a local Whisper server model if configured. It transcribes and appends your speech to the note in real-time.

/ Dynamic Layout Engine - You can toggle between three beautiful views for your notes dashboard!

/ Real-time Search - A search bar instantly filters all your notes, checking both the titles and the inner content.

/ fink.pai Integration - It actively listens for a global close-notes-window voice command to close the app hands-free.

fink.pai: your personal chatsona. the core of the main app is the terminal interface for the personal artificial intelligence. it is designed to be completely offline and highly private.

# Local Inference Loop: When you give the AI a command, it doesn't bounce off an OpenAI cloud server. It uses a local Ollama instance to parse natural language, maintain conversation context, and deduce UI intent.

# Local Dictation Engines: When you speak to the AI, your microphone audio is transcribed locally using Vosk (an offline Kaldi-based speech recognizer) or a local Whisper WebSocket server (whsp_tiny.en). Your voice data never leaves your machine.

# Cross-App Syncing: The Personal AI acts as the brain for the entire Fink ecosystem (Main App, Browser, and Notes). Through local IPC (Inter-Process Communication), you can tell the AI to "open the notes," "sync the browser color to match the main app," or "change the background opacity," and it will coordinate the styling across all separate windows silently.

* Microphone Exclusivity: The main process is hardcoded to explicitly deny all media permissions (camera, microphone) to every window except the main fink.pai interface. This guarantees that only the Personal AI can hear you.

* System-wide Blocking: The main app globally disables invasive browser permissions (Geolocation, notifications, MIDI).

* WebRTC IP Leak Protection: The app enforces disable-non-proxied-udp, masking your local IP address across all WebRTC traffic.

/ Visual Cores (Orbs & Backgrounds): The main interface is highly stylized with dynamic WebGL fluid backgrounds and animated 3D Orbs.

OS Control: The AI can execute local Windows terminal commands for you (after asking for confirmation).

/ Contextual Memory: The AI has a built-in memory system. If you tell it a fact, it will write it to a local JSON file and dynamically inject it into its system prompt during future conversations.

with everything in store be sure to check out the whitepaper and manifesto to further aid the support of a truly privitized digital world.
